Dutch Hiker Rescued from Pico de La Concha
On Tuesday afternoon, a middle-aged man from the Netherlands was rescued by firefighters after he lost his way while descending the Pico de La Concha. The man found himself trapped near a cliff, in a perilous rocky area.
Emergency Services Alerted
The hiker managed to alert the 112 emergency service, who then informed the Marbella park to initiate the rescue operation. The town hall released a statement detailing the incident and the subsequent rescue efforts.
Challenging Weather Conditions
The rescue operation was further complicated by adverse weather conditions. The regional service, upon receiving the call, established contact with the man via mobile phone. Understandably, the man was anxious and scared.
Rescue Operation Ensues
The firefighters provided the man with instructions and advice to remain calm and stay put until the arrival of the rescue team. The three-member rescue team was dispatched to the location.
Four-Hour Rescue Operation
The rescue operation, which lasted nearly four hours, involved the use of a rope system to extract the hiker from his precarious position due to the difficult access.
Hiker Treated for Hypothermia
Following the rescue, the hiker was treated for symptoms of hypothermia. Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries during the ordeal.
