Swedish Influencers in Marbella Face Cryptocurrency Extortion

A Swedish influencer couple residing in Marbella, known for sharing their daily life, including trips, meals, sports routines, home renovations, and family updates on social media, have reportedly been targeted by extortionists. The couple, who have amassed thousands of followers, allegedly started receiving threatening emails last week, demanding a payment of over one million euros in cryptocurrencies. The extortionists threatened harm to the couple and their family if their demands were not met.

First Email and Extortion Details

The couple reportedly received the first email from an unidentified address on Wednesday, 22 January. The email contained a lengthy message in which the extortionists provided a cryptocurrency wallet number and demanded a transfer of 1.2 million euros in bitcoins within six days. The criminals also allegedly warned that a fine of 50,000 euros would be added for each day of delay. The couple, their children, their pets, and even the woman’s parents were threatened with harm if the instructions were not followed. The names of all family members were listed in the email, according to sources consulted by SUR.

Alleged Grenade Attack Threat on Influencer’s Family Home

Four days after the alleged extortion began, Swedish media outlets Expressen and Aftonbladet reported an individual claiming to have been hired to throw a hand grenade at a house over the weekend for nearly 9,000 euros (100,000 kronor). The address reportedly matches that of the influencer’s relatives, who own a popular cosmetic brand in Sweden.

Security Measures and Ongoing Investigation

Upon receiving the threat, the Swedish National Police reportedly initiated a security operation around the building, and the residents sought refuge elsewhere. The Swedish authorities, along with the National Police, have launched investigations to shed light on the incident.
