Three Arrested in Connection with Puerto Banús Gangland Shooting
Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with a gang-related shooting that took place on 16th March at a restaurant in Puerto Banús. The incident reportedly involved members of two rival gangs, believed to be involved in organized crime and large-scale drug trafficking, who met at the restaurant around 1.25am.
Details of the Violent Encounter
The alleged shooter initially targeted the head of a 20-year-old victim before shooting him in the leg. The victim sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital. The incident escalated into a gunfight within the restaurant, which eventually spilled onto the streets.
Investigation and Evidence Collection
Police officers recovered 15 cartridge cases and five cartridges from the scene. The investigation, led by the Udyco-Costa del Sol serious crime squad, resulted in the identification of the individuals responsible for the shooting. On Tuesday, 16th July, three people were arrested in connection with the incident.
Arrests Lead to Discovery of Drug Dens
During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the arrested individuals frequently visited a house in Mijas and another property in Malaga city, neither of which were his primary residence. Upon searching these properties, they were found to be drug dens.
Seizure of Drugs, Weapons, and Cash
Officers seized 5kg of cocaine, six small arms, an AK-47, ammunition, a silencer, four mobile phones, a bulletproof vest, counterfeit documents, and 90,000 euros in cash from the properties.
Charges and Incarceration
The arrested individuals face charges of attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, drug trafficking, document forgery, assault on a police officer, and membership in a criminal organization. They have been remanded in custody.
