Colombian Woman Brutally Murdered in Marbella
Natalia, a 45-year-old Colombian woman, was brutally murdered by her partner in Marbella, as revealed by court documents. The shocking case, which unfolded in Spain, was discovered when restaurant patrons in Marbella noticed the decapitated body of a woman on the beach. The body, which was also missing hands and had a large cut in the abdomen, led to various speculations, including the possibility of Natalia being a drug trafficking ‘mule’. However, this theory was soon dismissed by forensic experts due to the nature of the injuries.
Video Footage Leads to Identification
A video recorded by a bystander showing the body on the shore was published by media outlets. Despite the blurred footage, a man believed he recognized his missing sister, Natalia M. He contacted the police, revealing that Natalia had been in a relationship with another Colombian, whom she had previously reported for gender violence. The man was sentenced to 16 months’ imprisonment and was prohibited from approaching or communicating with Natalia. The National Police arrested the Colombian man hours later, leading to his confession.
Prosecution Seeks Long-Term Imprisonment
The public prosecutor’s office is now accusing the man of murder and breaching a sentence, seeking a jail term of 25 years and nine months. Natalia’s family, represented by lawyer Ricardo Álvarez-Ossorio, is asking for a 26-year imprisonment.
Details of the Preplanned Murder
The public prosecutor’s office believes that the crime was premeditated by Leonel H., who was also 45 years old at the time of the incident. According to the indictment, Leonel planned the crime days in advance and executed it in a surprise attack, leaving Natalia defenseless. The crime involved a rented cargo van, a church, and a secluded beach. After having sex with Natalia, Leonel allegedly used a technique to render her unconscious, then decapitated her and disposed of her body in the sea.
Efforts to Conceal the Crime
Leonel allegedly made efforts to ensure the body would not float and could not be identified. He discarded the murder weapon and Natalia’s belongings in various locations. Despite his efforts, Natalia’s severed hands washed ashore days later.
Compensation and Sentence Requested
The private prosecution has requested 150,000 euros in compensation for each of Natalia’s two children. They also requested that, if convicted, the defendant should not be deported from Spain and serve his full sentence in the country where he committed the crime.
