Marbella and San Pedro Unveil Exciting Christmas and New Year Programme
Marbella and San Pedro have announced a festive programme filled with events and activities for families to enjoy. The programme includes new additions such as the revival of the New Year’s Eve celebrations in both Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara on 31 December.
Marbella’s Festive Celebrations
In Marbella, the festivities will be held in the Parque de la Represa and will feature performances by Los Calvin and Rebelion, as announced by councillor Yolanda Marín. The Christmas agenda is packed with traditional events like Nativity scene routes, chocolatadas (gatherings where people drink hot chocolate and eat panettone), competitions, Father Christmas motorbike rides and children’s parties.
San Pedro’s Holiday Events
In San Pedro, the celebrations will be held in the Plaza de la Iglesia with performances by 5 D’Copas and Garage 3 Band. The festivities kick off on Wednesday 4 December at 6.30pm with the unveiling of the municipal nativity scene crafted by the Asociación Belenista María Rosa Duvige, located by the church.
Three Kings Parade and Other Highlights
This year’s edition of the town’s Three Kings parade will commence in the area of Plaza Monseñor Rodrigo Bocanegra and conclude on Avenida Severo Ochoa. On 4 January, the Three Kings will arrive by boat at the Virgen del Carmen Marina from La Bajadilla at 5pm, and will parade with the Royal Guard until they reach the Plaza de la Iglesia.
Music Performances and Traditional Events
Among the activities, there will be a performance on 15 December, in the grounds of La Caridad, by Juanlu Montoya, Ana Soto and Sonacay. A zambombá concert, offering traditional flamenco Christmas carols, will be held in the Avenida Marqués del Duero on 19 December.
Special Events for the Elderly and Children
The traditional Paseo de la Ilusión (walk of the lights) for the elderly to see the Christmas lights of Marbella and San Pedro, in collaboration with the taxi association, will take place on 10 December. Father Christmas will arrive on 17 December. The ‘grand parade’ will be on 5 January at 6pm and as a prelude, their majesties of the orient will visit Aspandem, while in the morning they will tour the streets in vintage cars.
