Marbella Carnival 2024 Costume Contest Awards
The Marbella Carnival 2024 came to an official close this Saturday, although some events are still to take place. The costumes took center stage with a parade through the city streets. The day ended with performances by some of the best groups from Cádiz at La Represa Park. The Marbella Carnival was celebrated from February 2nd to 17th, with traditional events such as the Mejillonada and the Chorizada still to come.
Saturday’s Activities and Parade of Humor
This Saturday was filled with some of the activities that attract the most crowds in the streets. Among them was the “Parade of Humor”, which traveled down Ricardo Soriano Avenue from 5:00 PM, ending with a party on Nabeul Avenue. Here, the results of the costume contest were announced and the awards were given out.
Evening Performances at La Represa Park
To conclude the evening, there were performances at La Represa Park (8:30 PM) by the Cádiz groups ‘La oveja negra’, by Antonio Martínez Ares; ‘El Grinch de Cai’, by El Sheriff, and ‘Y seguimos cantando’, by ‘El piru’ and ‘El tomate’.
Upcoming Traditional Events
Although the program has concluded, the traditional Mejillonada de Carnaval, organized by the Peña Los Nocheros, will take place this Sunday, February 18th at La Represa Park. Also, the Chorizada, organized by the Marbella Cultural Carnival Association, will take place on February 28th at José Rodríguez Square, marking the official end of the Marbella Carnival 2024.
Opening Ceremony and Costume Contest Winners
The opening ceremony took place on February 3rd and was dedicated posthumously to Francisco Blanco Suárez, also known as Paco “el Butano”. The winners of the adult individual costume contest were “Comfortable on the Sofa”, “The Fairy of Flowers”, and “The Fairy of the Forest”. The winning pairs were “The Ice Queens”, “The Morancos”, and “Grandma’s Balcony”. The winning groups in the first category were “The Children of San Ildetontos”, “Wonka’s Bakers”, and “The Stuc Family”. In the second category, the winners were “My Motto as a Flag”, “The Blame for Reggaeton”, and “The Pirates and Mermaids of Marbella”. The winners of the children’s individual costume contest were “Napkin”, “Groot”, and “Red Queen”. The winning pairs were “Carnival Up”, “Go for the Pot”, and “Tamer and Her Lion”. The winning groups in the first category were “The Tribe with More than Guasa” and “Gardeners and Flowers of the Capullito de Alelí”. In the second category, the winners were “My Motto as a Flag”, “Move”, and “Willy Wonka of Los Olivos”.
