Two-Year-Old Girl Chokes on Pistachio, Saved by Local Police
In a harrowing incident, the parents of a two-year-old girl found themselves in a race against time as they rushed their child to the hospital in Marbella. The toddler, who was unable to breathe, had reportedly choked on a pistachio nut, causing her skin to turn a worrying shade of blue.
Parents Encounter Police Patrol on Route to Hospital
As the parents sped towards the hospital, they fortuitously crossed paths with a Local Police patrol car. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, they stopped and sought immediate assistance from the officers. The police were patrolling along Avenida Playas del Duque, in Puerto Banús, when they noticed a car with its hazard lights on, screeching to a halt. A frantic woman emerged from the vehicle, clutching a child in her arms and crying out for help.
Quick-Thinking Officers Save the Day
Upon closer inspection, the police officers discovered that the child, who has Down’s syndrome, had a bruised face and was bleeding from her mouth. The Moroccan parents explained the situation, revealing that their daughter had choked on a pistachio. Without wasting a moment, one of the officers inserted a finger into the girl’s mouth, successfully removing the obstruction and helping her to expel it by placing her face down and patting her back.
Emergency Medical Assistance Arrives
While one officer was attending to the child, his partner was alerting the police control room and requesting an emergency ambulance. Their swift and effective actions paid off as the girl began to regain her normal color and breathing rhythm.
Child Taken to Hospital for Further Examination
Upon the arrival of the 061 medical staff, the child was immediately transported to the Hospital Costa del Sol for further examination and necessary care. After a thorough check-up, she was eventually discharged, marking the end of a terrifying ordeal for the family.
