Heroic Taxi Driver Saves Pedestrian’s Life in Marbella

In a remarkable act of heroism, a taxi driver in Marbella came to the rescue of a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on a busy road. The quick thinking and intervention of the taxi driver, identified as Salvador, 52, was acknowledged by both the Local Police and paramedics as a crucial factor in saving the life of the accident victim.

Witnessing the Accident and Swift Response

Salvador was stationed at a taxi rank in front of a popular hotel when he noticed a man crossing the road on Avenida Severo Ochoa on June 29. He observed that the pedestrian light seemed to be red, although this is currently under investigation by the police. Suddenly, he saw the man being flung 20 meters in the air after being struck by a car.

Former Lifeguard Leaps into Action

Drawing on his past experience as a lifeguard, Salvador immediately sprang into action. He rushed to the unconscious man’s aid, carefully positioning him in a recovery pose as he was bleeding heavily. The police arrived within minutes, with paramedics arriving shortly after. Salvador maintained the man’s position until the ambulance arrived.

Victim Rushed to Hospital

The paramedics quickly fitted the victim, a 38-year-old foreigner, with a neck brace and transported him to the Costa del Sol Hospital in town. He was later transferred to the Regional Hospital in Malaga city for further treatment.

Salvador’s Visit and the Victim’s Gratitude

Concerned about the pedestrian’s condition, Salvador visited the hospital later that evening to check on his progress. The victim had undergone surgery to reconstruct his lower lip, had four broken ribs, and was likely to lose sight in one eye. However, he was alive and expressed his gratitude to Salvador repeatedly. Doctors confirmed that Salvador’s quick thinking and the recovery position he placed the victim in likely prevented him from choking on his own blood, ultimately saving his life.
