Marbella Firefighters to Aid in Moroccan Earthquake Rescue Efforts

Two brave firefighters from Marbella, Sergio Hernandez and Antonio Medina, are set to travel to Morocco. They are responding to the call for help following the devastating earthquake that rocked the North African nation on Friday night. Medina’s rescue dog, Rasty, will also be part of the team. The trio will be volunteering their services through the NGO Firefighters for the World.

Specialists in Rescue Operations

Medina and Rasty are renowned for their expertise in rescue operations. Hernandez, on the other hand, is a specialist in canine rescues in disaster-stricken areas. This information was revealed in a report by Marbella 24 Horas. The Marbella firefighters have a history of participating in humanitarian efforts in various parts of the world. They have previously offered their services in Ukraine during the war and in Lesbos, Greece, when it was ravaged by fires.

Praise from Marbella Mayor

Angeles Muñoz, the Mayor of Marbella, took to social media to express her pride in the city’s fire service. She praised the team, particularly Antonio Medina and Sergio Hernandez, for their professionalism and human quality.

Moroccan Earthquake: The Devastating Aftermath

The Moroccan authorities reported on Monday that the death toll from the natural disaster had reached 2,500. They have not ruled out the possibility of more casualties as the search for survivors in the rubble continues. The Interior Ministry of the country also reported 2,476 injuries.
