Marbella Businessman Survives French Mafia’s Brutal Attacks

A businessman from Marbella has endured a terrifying ordeal at the hands of a ruthless French mafia gang. The man, aged 37, was subjected to beatings, kidnappings, and torture after he refused to sell his business to the gang. The National Police have since arrested seven members of the gang, described as ‘extremely violent’.

Refusal to Sell Sparks Mafia’s Wrath

The businessman’s nightmare began in June when the gang approached him with an offer to buy his company. He declined the offer and also refused to pay the €5000 they demanded for ‘control’ of his business. Unbeknownst to him, this refusal would trigger a week of horrific attacks.

Victim Suffers Extortion, Beatings, and Kidnappings

The man was subjected to extortion, brutal beatings, and two kidnappings by the gang. In one incident, he was tied up, dragged from his business, and thrown into the boot of a car. He was then taken to a wooded area where he was beaten, burnt, and threatened with death for hours.

Victim Too Scared to Seek Medical Help

After being released in a Fuengirola shopping centre, the man was so terrified that he did not seek medical treatment for his injuries. Instead, he went straight to the police to report the crimes. However, he was attacked again a week later when the assailants stormed his business and kidnapped him at gunpoint.

Police Launch ‘Operation Tanger’

In response to the man’s reports, the police launched ‘Operation Tanger’ in July to locate the attackers. The operation involved multiple forces, including the forensic investigation department, special security forces, and air agents. The investigation led them to properties in Alhaurín de la Torre, Mijas, Benalmádena, and Vélez-Málaga.

Arrests Made and Illegal Items Seized

The police have now arrested the suspects, all French nationals aged between 29 and 50. The gang is also suspected of involvement in robberies and was found in possession of 22 kilos of marijuana, 6 kilos of hashish, two vehicles with replaced number plates, and numerous firearms. They are currently under suspicion of kidnapping, grievous bodily harm, belonging to a criminal organisation, drugs trafficking, and possession of illegal firearms.
