Marbella Police Recover 33 Stolen Bicycles and Scooters
In a recent operation, National Police officers in Marbella have successfully recovered 33 stolen bicycles and three scooters. The operation also led to the arrest of an individual suspected to be involved in the thefts.
Owners Identify Stolen Items at Police Station
A police statement revealed that some of the stolen items were identified by their owners at the National Police station in Marbella. To aid in the identification process, the police have compiled a photographic album containing images and details of each of the recovered items.
Victims of Theft Encouraged to Identify Their Property
The police are encouraging anyone who has been a victim of bicycle or scooter theft in the area to come forward and identify their property from the photographs. To claim ownership, victims must provide a theft report or a document such as a purchase invoice. The police station is open for this purpose from Monday to Friday, 8am to 10pm.
‘Giro’ Operation Launched Following Series of Thefts
The operation, dubbed ‘Giro’, was initiated by officers from the theft group of Marbella police station following a series of bicycle thefts in the town. During the investigation, the police discovered the theft of an electric bicycle worth 3,000 euros, which was stolen from near a shopping centre in Puerto Banús.
Stolen Items Found in Rented Storage Containers
The investigation led the officers to a property in San Pedro Alcántara, where storage containers are rented out. Here, they discovered the stolen electric bicycle from Puerto Banús, along with 32 other bicycles and three electric scooters in one of the containers. The total value of the recovered items exceeds 30,000 euros.
Recovered Items Include Variety of Bicycles and Parts
The recovered items include a variety of mountain, road and electric bicycles, as well as wheels, numerous pedals and other parts. So far, five of the recovered items have been claimed by their owners, and efforts are ongoing to locate the owners of the remaining bicycles.
Suspect Arrested and Facing Charges
One person has been arrested in connection with the thefts and is set to face charges at the court in Marbella. The police continue their efforts to combat theft and return stolen property to its rightful owners.
