El Pimpi Bodega Expands to Marbella
El Pimpi, the renowned Malaga bodega, has made its debut in Marbella, marking its first establishment outside its home city. The new restaurant is located within the Puente Romano Beach Resort Hotel, in the most Andalusian part of the complex. While maintaining its roots, the new bodega offers a more upscale experience, featuring a small tapas bar and a broad culinary selection.
Antonio Banderas Unveils New Bodega
The unveiling of the new dining venue, set to officially open on Friday, 10 May, was celebrated with flamenco music. Among the attendees was Malaga-born actor/director and bodega partner, Antonio Banderas, along with his business partners Elena Cobos and Pablo Gonzalo. Banderas had the honor of unveiling the wine barrels, signing them as a good luck gesture for the new establishment.
El Pimpi and Puente Romano’s Mutual Love for Andalucía
The main players at the launch event expressed that the new restaurant is a result of the mutual admiration of El Pimpi and Puente Romano for Andalucía. They aim to promote the extraordinary richness of the region and make it known to as many people as possible.
El Pimpi Marbella’s Gastronomic Offerings
The menu of the new restaurant will mirror that of its Malaga counterpart, offering a product, service, and tradition on par with its predecessor. The menu includes classics such as Pim-pi prawns, fried aubergines with honey, an assortment of Andalusian cheeses, seafood dishes, and meats. For the more indulgent, there are tins of Riofrío organic caviar.
Banderas’ Long-Standing Love for El Pimpi
During the presentation, Banderas reminisced about his long-standing relationship with El Pimpi, which began when he was nine years old. He expressed his love for Marbella, where his daughter was born, and his excitement for the new establishment.

Elena Cobos shared that their expansion to Marbella was a step away from their home in Malaga. She expressed excitement about the opportunity to introduce El Pimpi to a new audience.

Daniel Shamoon, co-director of Puente Romano, expressed that while they have brought many international brands to Marbella, they were missing the heartbeat of the Andalusian people. He believes that El Pimpi is the perfect addition to bring the Andalusian heart to Puente Romano.
El Pimpi: A Landmark in Malaga
Bodegas El Pimpi has been a landmark in Malaga city since its inception in August 1971. More than half a century later, the business project started by businessmen and friends Francisco Campos and Pepe Cobos employs more than 200 people.
