Arts Society Al Andalus to Host Illustrated Talk on Picasso and Modern British Painting
The Arts Society Al Andalus, previously known as the Arts Society Benahavis, is set to host an illustrated talk at the Padre Manuel cultural centre. The event is scheduled for 6.30pm on Tuesday, 30th April. The talk will be given by renowned art historian Paul Chapman, focusing on the life and works of the Malaga-born painter, Picasso, who is widely regarded as the most influential artistic figure of the 20th century. The discussion will delve into how Picasso revolutionized the world of modern art.
Chapman to Discuss Picasso’s Influence on British Painters
Chapman’s talk will explore Picasso’s profound influence on British painters such as Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Wyndham Lewis, and David Hockey, among others. Chapman, a National Gallery trained guide, has a wealth of experience in the field of education. He has delivered courses and lectures for a multitude of educational organizations.
Paul Chapman: A Veteran Art Historian and Author
In addition to his extensive lecturing experience, Chapman has also conducted talks and tours for art associations and societies in several museums and galleries across the UK and Europe. He is also the author of a book that investigates the topic of cultural crossovers and appropriations in 20th century painting.
