Manuel Cardeña, President of the Commonwealth and Acosol, Implements Water Pressure Reduction

Manuel Cardeña, the president of the Commonwealth and Acosol, has initiated a reduction in water pressure in Marbella and other municipalities in the region during the night. This measure is being implemented gradually and indefinitely, every day of the week except from Saturday to Sunday.

Local Operators Reduce Water Pressure to Maximize Reservoir Reserves

Local operators in each municipality are responsible for reducing the water pressure during the early hours of the morning. The aim is to extend the current reservoir reserves as much as possible. The measure is gradually implemented from 00:00 hours, and the pressure gradually increases again from 6:00 hours.

Water Consumption Limit Set by Andalusian Drought Committee

The goal is to comply with the latest decision made by the Andalusian Drought Committee to limit water consumption to 160 liters per inhabitant per day throughout the province of Malaga. Until now, the limit was 200 liters per inhabitant per day.

Western Costa del Sol Faces Exceptional Drought and Severe Shortage

The Western Costa del Sol region is experiencing an exceptional drought due to lack of rainfall and a severe shortage due to lack of water in the reservoir. During the hours when the pressure is reduced, Acosol has reported that there may be homes and commercial premises without a water supply.

Buildings Without Cisterns and Those in High Areas Most Affected

Primarily, buildings without cisterns and those located in high and remote areas from the main network will be affected. This measure against scarcity is now being implemented in a coordinated manner, although it had already been taken in municipalities like Fuengirola weeks ago.

Recent Rains Help Maintain and Increase Water Levels in Reservoir

With the recent rains, the Concepción reservoir has managed not only to maintain its water level but also to gain some water and is now at 25.77% capacity. It has almost 15 cubic hectometers of water. The goal is to have water available, if there is no rainfall, until the summer.
