Marbella Renews UNICEF Seal

The city of Marbella has renewed its UNICEF Child-Friendly City seal for the period of 2024-2027. This recognition, which the city first received in October 2014, is granted by UNICEF and is held by over 300 local entities in Spain for their child-friendly policies.

Efforts to Achieve the Seal

In order to achieve this recognition, the Marbella City Council initiated the Local Plan for Children and Adolescents in 2012. This plan, along with a participatory body that meets regularly, aims to promote the well-being of children and their participation in local policies. The goal is to give a voice to this population so they can exercise their rights and achieve their full development.

Implementation of the Local Plan

To earn this award, the Marbella City Council implements the aforementioned local plan, which includes a series of activities carried out by various municipal departments. These activities are complemented by others carried out by associations and private entities.

The Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents

The Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents in Marbella includes representatives from all public and subsidized educational centers in the city. Its purpose is to foster relationships between minors and the adult world and to serve as a mechanism for active collaboration in municipal policy.
