Completion of A-7 Highway Rehabilitation Works Between Marbella and Fuengirola
The Spanish Government, through the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, announced on Wednesday that the conservation and rehabilitation works on the Mediterranean Highway A-7 between Marbella and Fuengirola have been completed, seven months ahead of schedule. The investment in these works amounted to 6.1 million euros.
Alternate Lane Closures for Rehabilitation
According to information provided by the Government Sub-delegation, over the past few months, alternate lane closures have been implemented on the mentioned stretch, always leaving one lane open to traffic, to rehabilitate the highway’s surface. The sub-delegate, Javier Salas, noted that this action is yet another example of the Spanish Government investing and undertaking necessary works to improve the province’s road network.
Details of the Completed Works
Salas explained that the works, completed seven months before the final deadline, involved the rehabilitation, improvement, and reinforcement of the surface across the entire width of the road, trunk, and roundabouts, as well as shoulders, bus stops, median crossings, acceleration and deceleration lanes, service roads, and accesses to urbanizations. In addition, the expansion joints of the various boards of the affected structures have been replaced, horizontal signage has been placed, definitive beaconing has been installed, and road markings have been repainted.
Part of the State Road Network Conservation and Maintenance Program
This action is part of the State Road Network Conservation and Maintenance Program. Since June 2018, 34.8 million euros have been invested in the province of Malaga, which, as Salas emphasized, “generate a significant boost to improve the quality of the service of the existing state road infrastructure in the province of Malaga.”
Government’s Commitment to Infrastructure Improvement
Finally, Javier Salas reiterated the Government’s commitment to improving the province’s infrastructure and its commitment to the people of Malaga.
