Intense Rainfall Hits Marbella on Friday
Marbella experienced a day of intense rainfall this Friday. The storm Karlotta has left around 60 liters per square meter of rain in its wake in Marbella until Saturday morning, a quantity that varies depending on where it is measured.
Little Relief for Drought Conditions
These precipitations only provide a small respite for the Concepción reservoir, but do not change the drought situation. More rain is forecasted for Sunday. As expected, the high-impact storm Karlotta has brought rain to Andalusia and also to the province of Malaga, one of the areas most affected by the drought.
Concepción Reservoir Awaits Runoff
The situation does not change much in the Concepción reservoir, awaiting runoff, as much more precipitation is needed. In Marbella, 57.1 liters per square meter have been collected, according to data from the Hidrosur Network taken at the treatment plant from Thursday to Saturday morning.
Most Rainfall Collected on Friday
It began to rain lightly on Thursday night, but most of the water was collected on Friday, accumulating almost 50 liters in just 12 hours. There were also light precipitations early Saturday morning.
Concepción Reservoir Records Increased Water Levels
At the Concepción reservoir, 65.4 liters per square meter have been collected, according to the same source and in the same period. The Marbella meteorology blog, managed by Jerónimo Amores, has measured 64.5 liters per square meter from Thursday to Saturday. On Friday, 53 liters fell.
Reservoir Levels Rise Slightly
As a result, the reservoir has gone from having 13.04 to registering 13.41 cubic hectometers, which represents 23.31% of its capacity. A small respite, which prevents the reserves from continuing to drop, but does not solve the serious drought situation.
More Rain Expected on Sunday
More rain is expected in Marbella on Sunday, although not as abundant.
