Police Arrests in Marbella Shootings
One of the individuals arrested in these police operations is linked to the shootings in Marbella. The National Police have clarified two other recent firearm incidents in Marbella, unrelated to each other, but with the same background: a drug ‘overturn’. These incidents occurred on April 2 and 13, with six arrests made. This brings the total number of resolved shootings in the recent wave to four.
Details of the Shootings
The resolved incidents took place on April 2, in the Los Naranjos urbanization, where a man was injured by two bullet impacts, and on April 13, in a Guadalmina restaurant, where a man was shot ten times. In both cases, the victims survived, according to a statement released by the National Police on Tuesday.
Previous Shootings
Previously, two other shootings had been clarified, one with three arrests that occurred on February 10 on Yedras Street, and another that took place on March 11 against a restaurant in Puerto Banús. Only one of the five shootings that occurred over two months remains unresolved.
Operations Orange and Mezquita
As part of the Orange and Mezquita operations against organized crime, the National Police have arrested six people. Thus, four of the five shootings that occurred this year in the municipality of Marbella, related to drug trafficking operations between rival criminal organizations, have been clarified.
Operation Orange: Three Arrests
A firearm incident in the Los Naranjos urbanization in Marbella marked the beginning of the so-called Operation Orange, carried out by agents assigned to the Marbella Crime Group. The incident occurred around 00:15 hours on Almogía Street, where three men, dressed in bright colors, approached another young man, initiating a struggle for a backpack in a dispute that would later be linked to an attempted drug ‘overturn’.
Operation Mezquita
On April 13, another shooting, this time in a hospitality establishment in a Guadalmina shopping center, resulted in a 33-year-old Albanian citizen being shot. He received ten shots, mostly in the lower limbs, from another man who opened fire on him, in a new settling of scores. The Mezquita operation, carried out jointly by the II and IV Organized Crime Groups of the Málaga Provincial Police Station, with the collaboration of their counterparts from the Marbella Police Station and the III GRECO Costa del Sol Group, focused from the outset on the investigation of a drug ‘overturn’.
