Parents Association of Mario Vargas Llosa School in Marbella Calls for Protest
The Parents Association (AMPA) of the Mario Vargas Llosa School in Marbella has called for a protest this coming Thursday. They are demanding that the Andalusian Government does not begin the dismantling of this school by eliminating one of the two lines of 3-year-old kindergarten for the next academic year. They aim to present a united front to prevent this from happening.
Public Education Protests Resume in Marbella
Protests are resuming in Marbella’s public education sector, unfortunately, once again at the Mario Vargas Llosa School, which already has a long history of claims against the Andalusian Government. This time, the Parents Association has called for a protest rally this Thursday, May 9, at 8:40 am at the school gate.
Parents Association Expresses Concern Over Lack of Response
Through a statement, the association has expressed “great concern” over the “lack of response” from the government to the elimination of a kindergarten line. “Despite our efforts and requests, unfortunately, we have not received a satisfactory response from the Education Department,” they state.
Call for Concrete Measures to Defend Educational Quality
In light of this situation, they believe it is time to “raise our voices and take concrete measures to defend the educational quality of our school”. They inform that they will initiate protests and make the problem visible through the media.
Message of Optimism and Confidence
They send a message of “optimism and confidence that, united as a community, we can achieve a positive change for the benefit of our students and the educational quality in our school”.
Warning of the Government’s Intentions
On April 24, the Parents Association warned of the government’s intentions to eliminate one of the two lines of 3-year-old kindergarten. This means that, over the years, half of this educational center, the last one built in Marbella, will be dismantled.
Violation of the Right to Choose Schools
They also consider this decision a violation of the right of many families to enroll their children in the schools they choose within the area of influence and according to a scale.
