Marbella’s Seaside Restaurant: Employment Strengthens in February
A restaurant located on the seafront of Marbella has reported a significant increase in employment in February, following a disappointing start to the year. After a sharp drop in employment in January, more than 1,500 jobs were created in February. This resulted in the highest number of social security contributions in the last 22 years, a promising sign for the upcoming month, especially with Easter week approaching.
Reversal of Employment Trend Post-Holiday Season
The year began on a worrying note with a significant drop in employment in Marbella following the Christmas season. However, as is usually the case, this trend has now reversed, paving the way for Easter week and subsequently, the summer.
Statistics from the Ministry of Social Security
According to data provided by the Ministry of Social Security, there were 72,006 contributions at the end of February in Marbella, 1,520 more than in January, an increase of 2.15%. This is a significant increase, similar to that of the previous year and also to that of 2017, which had been the best until 2022, influenced by the recovery after the pandemic.
Comparison with Previous Years
If we consider the year-on-year data, there are 857 more than in the same month of 2023 and 4,270 more than in 2022, showing that the acceleration of recent years is now slowing down. Nevertheless, this is the best February in the last 22 years. There has never been so much employment in the second month of the year in Marbella.
Impact of Easter Week on Employment
The fact that Easter week is celebrated at the end of March may have contributed to this positive figure, which is also a promising sign for the first tourist thermometer of the year.
