Third Phase of Civitas Puerto Banús Remodelling Project Now Open to Public
The third phase of the Civitas Puerto Banús remodelling project, focusing on jetties three and eight, is now accessible to the public. This project is a part of a broader initiative to modernise the marina, with a total investment of nine million euros spread across three phases and three different financial years.
Continued Development of Puerto Banús
Last year saw the construction of two structures of this type, with two more set to be built this year. The jetties currently on display will be operational next year, as announced in the Official Bulletin of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) on 11 July. Puerto Banús, which was built in the late 1960s and began operations in 1970, has been in service for over 50 years.
Need for Comprehensive Intervention
The project report highlights that the marina’s infrastructures have been adapted, repaired, and maintained multiple times over the years. However, due to the evolution of nautical sports activity, changes in the fleet’s operation, characteristics, and dimensions, shifts in client types, and the introduction of products and elements that enhance safety, functionality, and efficiency of services, a comprehensive intervention is now necessary for the renovation of the jetties.
Improved Accessibility and Stability
These types of jetties enhance the accessibility of the nautical facilities. They employ an American system that adjusts with the tide, providing stability to the user and facilitating easier access to boats. Civitas Puerto Banús installed its first floating jetties in April last year, renovating piers six and seven, and this year it has replaced four and five. The renovation process will continue with the replacement of jetties three and eight, which are currently on public display.
Modernisation of the Port Area
The comprehensive project for the modernisation of the port area, amounting to nine million euros, includes the renovation of the jetties and the reform of the quays. Civitas Puerto Banús is one of Spain’s most prestigious marinas and enjoys international fame, attracting thousands of tourists and luxury boating enthusiasts every year.
