Marbella Mayor Requests National Police to Share Organized Crime Information
The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, made a statement on Monday, requesting the National Police to share information about organized crime with the City Council. This request comes amidst a wave of shootings in the municipality and allegations against her stepson and one of her bodyguards.
Mayor’s Stepson Accused of Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering
Muñoz’s stepson is currently facing charges of drug trafficking and money laundering, with a potential sentence of 22 years in prison. One of her bodyguards is also under investigation for allegedly providing confidential information to a Swedish crime syndicate.
Mayor’s Request Amidst Crime Wave
In response to media inquiries about the recent surge in shootings, Muñoz deflected responsibility and made a surprising request. She generalized the situation, stating that crimes investigated by the National Police occur in many localities across the country and expressed hope that Marbella’s image would not be affected.
Mayor Shifts Responsibility to Government Subdelegation
The Mayor shifted all responsibility to the Government Subdelegation, portraying her role as merely collaborative and not assuming any responsibility. She announced that a Local Security Board meeting has been requested and is scheduled for Thursday, April 25.
Mayor’s Curious Request
Muñoz made a curious request, asking for the opportunity to share information that is currently only available to the National Police. This request is particularly striking given the charges against her stepson and bodyguard.
Mayor’s Commitment to Taking Measures
Despite the controversy, Mayor Muñoz is adamant about taking measures and working in conjunction with the National Police. She insists that the City Council has always made all resources available to the Subdelegation.
