Andalusian Anthem Performed at PSOE Event in Marbella
The Andalusian anthem was performed at the PSOE event in Marbella. The Socialist Group of Marbella celebrated Andalusia Day, as they do every year, with a ceremony in the Divina Pastora neighborhood, next to the monument of sculptor Vicente de Espona.
Traditional Andalusian Breakfast and Floral Offering
An Andalusian breakfast was offered before the traditional floral offering next to the monolith. There were also performances by carnival groups. Every February 28, members, supporters, and locals join the commemorative event for Andalusia Day organized by the PSOE next to the community monument.
Start of the Day with Andalusian Breakfast
To start the day, an Andalusian breakfast, with bread and oil, was offered. This was followed by the traditional floral offering next to the monolith created by Vicente de Espona. Subsequently, the Andalusian anthem was sung and local carnival groups performed.
Performances by Local Carnival Groups
The “Los Refugiados” comparsa and the “Mejor me callo” chirigota performed, entertaining all those present in the morning. The floral offering was made in front of Vicente de Espona’s Andalusia monolith.
PSOE Marbella’s General Secretary Highlights the Uniqueness of the Celebration
The General Secretary of PSOE Marbella, José Bernal, emphasized that they are the only party that celebrates Andalusia Day in Marbella. He stated that the celebration is usually held in Paco Cantos square, which is also the Andalusia square, where Marbella residents gathered on December 3, 1977, to demand autonomy. He pointed out that the day is about “defending the achievements made” and recalled that during his term as mayor, this area of the Divina Pastora neighborhood was revitalized.
