Trans Visibility Event Held in Marbella
An event for trans visibility took place in Marbella this Thursday. The City Council commemorated International Trans Visibility Day with a reading of a manifesto. The reading was carried out by social worker and trans person Lucas Argüello Ruiz, to claim the contributions of transgender people to society. Members of the government team, as well as members of PSOE and OSP, participated in the event, but not from Vox. The event was held on Thursday morning at the Cortijo Miraflores Cultural Center.
Equality Councilor Highlights Commitment to LGBTI Rights
Isabel Cintado, the Councilor for Equality, emphasized that this is a day when the City Council renews its commitment to work and guarantee LGBTI rights. She also recognized the work done by Argüello and the company Alcampo. She praised Argüello for his commitment to building an egalitarian world and his work in raising awareness and visibility of trans realities. She also commended Alcampo for its commitment to gender equality and the inclusion of trans people in the workplace.
Representatives from Various Organizations Attend the Event
The event was also attended by the head of the Andalusian Women’s Institute in Malaga, Remedios Cueto, and the provincial delegate of the Chrysallis Association, María José Márquez. Councilors from PSOE and Opción Sampedreña were present, but no representative from Vox, the other group of the Corporation, attended.
Argüello Highlights the Importance of the Day
During the manifesto, Argüello pointed out that today is a day of great importance as it not only remembers trans people who have historically suffered hate crimes, but also opens a window to continue claiming and fighting for the end of structural discriminations that our collective continues to suffer in the 21st century. He added that it is an opportunity to recognize their courage, their struggle, and their resistance. He affirmed that on this day, we commit to fight for a world where all people can live authentically, without fear and with dignity, and to work together to build a more inclusive and fair society.
