Procession Cancelled Due to Rain Fears
A large crowd gathered near the Hermitage of Santiago at the time when the procession was supposed to start. The Brotherhood of Christ of Love in Marbella has ultimately cancelled its Holy Thursday procession due to fear of rain.
Decision to Protect the Brotherhood’s Heritage
In the mid-afternoon, the Permanent Commission met to make the decision, which is always tough, but the protection of the brotherhood’s heritage was prioritized. This is the first time since 2011 that they have not paraded through the streets.
Two of Three Processions Cancelled
If yesterday it was the Brotherhood of Calvary that cancelled its parade, today the Brotherhood of Christ of Love has joined in, leaving Holy Thursday in Marbella without two of its three processions. This Holy Week has been heavily affected by rain, impacting the parades.
One of the Most Attractive Processions Cancelled
One of the most attractive is always the Royal, Ancient and Most Excellent Brotherhood and Brotherhood of Nazarenes of Christ of Love, Virgin of Charity and Saint John the Evangelist. However, in the mid-afternoon, the Permanent Commission met to make a decision in the face of bad weather forecasts and finally decided to cancel the procession.
Decision Based on Weather Forecasts
The statement indicates that this stance was taken “based on weather forecasts and in order to fulfill the obligation to safeguard the heritage of the brotherhood and the safety of the brothers participating in the parade”.
Public Gathered to See the Thrones
The Titles were displayed in the Hermitage of Santiago for veneration from 8:15 pm, the time when the procession should have started. A large crowd gathered around the chapel to see the thrones and listen to the saetas that were sung.
Presence of Former Legionnaire Knights
There was also the squadron of former legionnaire knights from Torremolinos, with their songs and juggling. It has been 13 years since the Brotherhood of Christ of Love did not go out. The last time was in 2011, while in 2012 they had to take refuge in the Church of the Incarnation due to rain.
Holy Thursday Left Without Two of Its Processions
Holy Thursday is probably the most crowded day of Holy Week in Marbella and this time it was left without two of its processions.
