Olive Press Family Member to Participate in King Charles III’s Coronation Procession
A member of the Olive Press family, Matt Jones, will be participating in the procession for the coronation of King Charles III in London. Jones, a sales executive covering Malaga, Valencia, and Mallorca, will be representing Spain and expats in Spain for the Royal British Legion (RBL). He expressed his excitement about the Olive Press being present at the event and witnessing the proceedings.
Celebrations Across the UK and Commonwealth
The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be celebrated across the UK and the Commonwealth. As part of the celebrations, the RBL will provide a Guard of Honour of 100 Standard Bearers to line the procession route in Parliament Square. The RBL is the only non-military organisation participating in the event.
Matt Jones’ Journey to the Coronation
Jones has been living in Spain for 13 years, working for local media, and joined the RBL shortly after his arrival. He was flown to London on Tuesday and has been staying at the Thistle Hotel in Marble Arch. Since his arrival, he has been heavily involved in the preparations for the procession, including spending hours polishing his shoes to the required shine.
Dress Rehearsal and Preparations
Jones, along with the rest of the RBL standard bearers, participated in a dress rehearsal that lasted from 9pm to 5am. The details of the rehearsal, including their positions and actions, were kept top secret. Jones will be standing no less than five feet from the king and other dignitaries during the procession.
Challenges and Excitement
Despite the cold weather and rigorous rehearsals, Jones is excited about the event. He has even had his hair cut short to accommodate his beret. He has brought two suits with him, one for rehearsals and another for the special day. He expressed his pride and anticipation for the big day, knowing that his family will be proud of his participation.
