76-Year-Old Hiker Rescued in Marbella
A 76-year-old man was rescued by the Marbella Fire Department’s rescue team after he became disoriented while hiking in Sierra Blanca. The incident occurred at an altitude of 900 meters near the Río de las Piedras. The image of the rescue was provided by the Marbella City Council.
Tourist Calls for Emergency Services
The man, who was visiting the city as a tourist, alerted the emergency services himself. According to a statement from the City Council, the operation began at 8:30 pm when a call was received from the 112 emergency service, which had been alerted by the man himself.
Rescue Operation in Dangerous Terrain
The man reported that he had lost his way while on a route from the Juanar area, a route that specialists describe as dangerous. The firefighters were able to locate the man thanks to the coordinates sent from his mobile phone to the 112 emergency service.
Man Found Unharmed but Suffering from Hypothermia
The man was found unharmed, but he was suffering from hypothermia and had difficulty moving. As a result, the rescuers had to use harnesses and other rescue equipment during the operation.
Rescue Operation Lasted Until Early Morning
The operation continued until 4:30 am, when the municipal team transported the man back to his hotel. The man is currently spending a few days visiting the city.
