World’s Best Chef Launches New Venture in Puerto Banus
Dabiz Muñoz, the chef who has been hailed as the ‘best in the world’, has recently opened a new venture in Puerto Banus, located on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Muñoz, a three Michelin-starred chef for his Madrid restaurant DiverXo, has introduced a food truck that offers affordable versions of his renowned dishes in the glamorous Marbella port. The food truck, which started operations on April 8, is his third venture in Spain, following the success of two similar projects in Madrid.
Puerto Banus Venture: The Largest Food Truck with Affordable Meals
The Puerto Banus venture is the largest of Muñoz’s food trucks, boasting 30 tables and offering meals that average between €25 and €30. The food trucks are a collaborative effort with Spanish department store El Corte Ingles and are all located outside the stores.
Food Trucks: A Pandemic-Inspired Idea
The concept of the food trucks was born out of the pandemic when Muñoz had to shut down his fine dining restaurants and resort to takeaway services. He initiated a successful takeaway service called GoXo, which offered food from his Madrid restaurant and later expanded to Barcelona. One of the most sought-after dishes on the menu is his famous double cheeseburger.
Spain’s ‘Enfant Terrible’ Opens Low-Cost Venture
Muñoz, often referred to as the ‘enfant terrible’ of Spain’s restaurant scene, launched his new low-cost venture just a few months after he increased the price of a tasting menu at his flagship Madrid restaurant to a staggering €365. In September last year, the 42-year-old chef bagged the top prize in The Best Chef Awards 2021, held in Amsterdam.
