Wild Boars Spotted Roaming in Marbella’s Guadalmina Alta Neighbourhood
A group of wild boars was recently seen wandering around the Guadalmina Alta neighborhood in Marbella. The video, which was shared online, shows at least two adult boars and two piglets exploring the trees and shrubs near the Hotel Barcelo.
Boars’ Natural Habitats Encroached by Development and Tourism
Boars are native to Spain and can be found on every continent except Antarctica. They are adaptable creatures, capable of living in forests, grasslands, and wetlands. Earlier this month, a pet husky was reportedly attacked by a group of wild boars near the Campo de Golf El Soto in Marbella. The incident, which was shared on Instagram, showed the dog with a large wound on its neck. The owner claimed that the injury was inflicted by wild boars.
Andalusian Government’s Plan to Control Boar Population
Following numerous sightings of boars in public spaces this summer, the Junta de Andalucia has pledged to implement exceptional measures to control the boar population and limit their intrusion into urban areas. However, a detailed plan has not yet been made public.
