German Artist Martin Köster Debuts in Spain with Marbella Exhibition
German artist Martin Köster, known as the “city painter”, is showcasing his work in Spain for the first time, choosing Marbella as his venue. After successful art exhibitions in New York, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong, Köster’s work is now on display at the Fonda Heritage Hotel until August 4th, open to visitors.

The exhibition is curated by Dina Freibott and Marcus Schäfer, who selected the recently renovated, iconic Marbella hotel as the setting for Köster’s Spanish debut. The artist, known for his love of perspective, expressed satisfaction with the chosen venue for his works and even considered reflecting Marbella’s skyline in his future paintings.
Exhibition Features a Dozen Works Across Various Areas of the Hotel
The exhibition, composed of a dozen works, occupies various areas of the Fonda Heritage, from the hotel lobby to the restaurant spaces. Larger format works, depicting scenes from New York, can be admired in the 16th-century San Sebastian hermitage. Some works were also displayed in the Sky Bar during the opening, where a cocktail was offered to the guests.
Martin Köster: Capturing the Soul of a City
Martin Köster aims to internalize the soul of a city and transform it into a painting. The artist specializes in drawing skylines from rooftops, showcasing the vibrancy of a city from above. Since 2018, Köster has headlined successful exhibitions in London, New York, Hong Kong, Hamburg, Paris, and many other cities around the world.
