Marbella Officers Arrested Over Sexual Favour Allegations
Two undercover police officers in Marbella have been apprehended following accusations that they demanded sexual favours from two undocumented women. The officers allegedly promised to overlook the women’s immigration status in return for these favours.
Complaint Leads to Investigation
The incident came to light when one of the women lodged a complaint on July 31. She claimed that the officers had initially stopped them to check their identification and later sexually assaulted them. The complaint included an audio recording of the conversation with the officers, which one of the women had managed to capture on her phone.
Officers Arrested Following Investigation
The Family and Women’s Care Unit of the Marbella police launched an investigation into the allegations. The two officers were arrested last Saturday. The women, who are from South America, stated that they felt pressured into complying in order not to have their irregular immigration status reported. However, the officers insisted that the events were consensual.
Court Orders Remand for Officers
On the same day as their arrest, a Marbella court ordered the police officers to be held in custody. They face charges for four crimes: sexual assault, bribery, prohibited negotiations for public officials, and invasion of privacy.
