A sandwich crafted with love in Marbella has been declared the best in Spain. The X Snack Competition jury at the Madrid Fusion gastronomy summit cast their votes in favor of this culinary delight. The creator of this winning sandwich is none other than Javier Ruiz Portillo from the El Parque de la Milla restaurant in Marbella.

The sandwich, which features pickled partridge as its star ingredient, has been lauded for its ‘excellent’ qualities. It is easy to eat without making a mess, the ingredients blend well together, and it embodies the essence of a traditional Spanish sandwich. The sandwich also includes beer bread, oregano paste, ham, mustard seeds, IPA beer, sugar, red wine, leeks, seasonal mushrooms, mustard leaves, and radishes.

The announcement was made on January 25, 2023, at the Madrid Fusión gastronomic summit. The jury comprised of chef Jesús Monedero, baker John Torres, and gastronomic journalists Marina Vega, Raquel Castillo, and Esperanza Peláez.
