Mayor’s Meeting with Siyuan Li in London
The Mayor, Angeles Muñoz, met with Siyuan Li, the Director of Cooperation of the World Federation of Tourist Cities (WTCF), on the second day of the World Travel Market (WTM) fair in London. The focus of the city council’s activities was this meeting.
Offer to Host International Congress
Mayor Muñoz offered her municipality as a venue for the congress of this international body. In a statement, she highlighted the significance of being chosen as the location for an event of this magnitude, which could bring together more than 200 delegates in the municipality.
WTCF’s Prestige and Influence
Muñoz reminded that the WTCF is a prestigious body that currently comprises nearly 300 members from 75 countries, including the city which has been a member for two years. She described it as a globally operating institution, based in China, with significant influence in its environment.
Marbella’s International Positioning
The mayor pointed out that such initiatives strengthen their international positioning and allow for the exchange of experiences with other destinations. The WTCF, which also includes Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville, has a publication that will feature Marbella’s offerings.
Other Meetings and Future Plans
In addition to this, the Marbella delegation held other business meetings during the day with various tour operators and with the Fox agency, which is responsible for promoting the city’s brand in the UK. They also had another meeting with Virtuoso, the largest luxury travel agency platform in the US and Canada, to discuss joint actions for 2024.
