A sailing competition hosted by the TRY SAIL club featured five teams made up of 25 professional enthusiasts from Finland, Sweden, and Norway for the first stage.
The inaugural stage of the Nordic Cup regatta took place last weekend in Puerto Banús, providing an opportunity to extend the sailing season and cultivate a community of northern European sailing enthusiasts in Spain.
The TRY SAIL sailing club hosted the first stage of the regatta, which saw five teams of 25 professional sailors from Finland, Sweden, and Norway compete.
A mixed team of Norwegian and Finnish sailors took first place. Although most participants reside on the Costa del Sol, one team made the journey from Oslo to compete.
The race was conducted in strict compliance with professional sailing rules, a factor organizers believe is crucial in preserving the competitive spirit. Denis Kotlyarov, the owner of TRY SAIL, stated that their main goal is to promote Marbella as the ultimate sailing destination all year round.
Acknowledging the significant role sailing plays in Nordic countries, they envisioned the Nordic Cup as an annual event, aiming to attract over 15 teams to each stage. The Nordic Cup will resume next year, with the following stages set for 3-4 February and 6-7 April.
