Former Footballer Zazou Belounis Finds New Home in Marbella

Zazou Belounis, the former French professional footballer, has found a new home in Marbella. After travelling the globe, he has chosen to settle on the Costa del Sol where he now runs Casanis, one of the most luxurious restaurant groups in Malaga province. Despite his image as a luxury businessman, Zazou sees himself as a homebody who cherishes his family time.

Zazou’s Journey from Football to Business

Zazou is a man who has lived multiple lives. He was a footballer before he moved to Marbella to learn a new trade and establish a successful restaurant group. His football career took him to France, Switzerland, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Qatar, with each location presenting its own unique challenges and triumphs.

Why Marbella?

Zazou first visited Marbella 25 years ago and was immediately captivated by the town’s special energy. After retiring from football, he decided to try something new in Marbella, and seven years later, he is still there, running a successful business.

Transitioning to the Restaurant Business

After his time in Qatar, Zazou was unsure of his next steps. He began working with his best friend at a restaurant called Casa Mono, where he discovered a passion for the hospitality industry. This experience inspired him to open his own restaurant.

The Growth of Casanis

Casanis started with La Plage Casanis, but its success led to the acquisition of Mamzel, Nota Blu, and Casanis Bistrot. The restaurant group has grown from 30 employees to around 430.

Marbella: A Hub of Luxury

Zazou believes Marbella will soon surpass Ibiza, Saint-Tropez, and Mykonos as a luxury destination. His clientele is demanding, seeking impeccable service and a memorable experience.

Future Plans for Growth

Zazou dreams of continuing to grow his business, but he plans to do so slowly and strategically. He is open to opportunities in Miami, Dubai, Madrid, or even Malaga city.

Zazou’s Personal Life

When he’s not working, Zazou enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in sports. He also loves to travel and bring back new ideas from abroad. Despite his busy schedule, he considers himself a homebody.

Zazou’s Football Allegiances

Zazou was once a Barcelona fan, but he now supports Real Madrid. He also follows Malaga CF, although not as closely as he used to.

High-Profile Guests at Casanis

Casanis has welcomed many football players and celebrities, including Álvaro Morata, Lucas Hernández, Aymeric Laporte, Eva Longoria, and the Black Eyed Peas.

Zazou’s Musical Preferences

Zazou is a rock music fan, with a particular fondness for Led Zeppelin and Ben Harper.
