Marbella Town Hall Approves Refurbishment of Meliá Marbella Banús Hotel
The Marbella town hall has approved the building permit for the extensive renovation of the Meliá Marbella Banús hotel. The hotel is set to be transformed into a new five-star establishment, enhancing the luxury offerings of the Costa del Sol town.
Investment in Hotel Industry Continues to Grow
Marbella’s deputy mayor, Félix Romero, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing investment in the town’s hotel industry. The upgrade of four-star hotels to five-star establishments is a testament to the high level of excellence being achieved in the town. The investment for the refurbishment of the Meliá Marbella Banús hotel is over eight million euros.
Renovation and Expansion of Hotel Building
The renovation project includes the regulation of the various floors of the building and a complete overhaul and expansion of the hotel building. The result will be an increase in capacity to 200 rooms. Work will also be carried out on the swimming pool, with plans for two new pools to be built in the southern area.
Boosting the Hotel Offer of Marbella
The deputy mayor expressed his delight at the prospect of another major hotel company making a significant investment in Puerto Banús. The upgrade to a five-star hotel will strengthen the town’s hotel offerings, which are considered among the most exquisite on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.
Update on Building Permits
Romero also provided an update on major and minor projects managed during September. Over a hundred licenses were issued, amounting to a total of 18 million euros. He described it as a very active month for building and planning permissions, enabling smart and sustainable development.
Construction of Multi-Family Homes and Other Projects
In addition to the license for the Hotel Meliá Marbella Banús, Romero highlighted the construction of 10 multi-family homes in Calle María José González Bartolomé in San Pedro Alcántara, with a budget of 3.5 million euros. Another license was issued for the construction of seven properties in the area between Calle Enrique del Castillo and Avenida Ramón y Cajal, with a budget allocation of 780,000 euros.
Minor Projects in San Pedro and Nueva Andalucía
Romero also reported a total of 94 authorisations for minor projects in San Pedro and Nueva Andalucía, with a budget of 5.5 million euros. These smaller investments contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the town.
