Controversy Over Ticket Distribution for Marbella Carnival’s Opening Day
Tickets were distributed last Wednesday for the opening day of the Marbella Carnival, sparking significant controversy. The tickets were quickly sold out, leaving many people, including family members of local groups performing that night, without access. This has caused significant discontent within the carnival community.
Details of the Ticket Distribution
The distribution of invitations to access the municipal theatre this Saturday for the inauguration of the Marbella Carnival has stirred up a lot of controversy at the start of these festivities. It had been announced that the tickets would be distributed last Wednesday, January 31, at two different locations. From 10:00 to 14:00 hours at the Marbella Festival Delegation, and from 19:00 hours at the Carnival Association headquarters. However, according to sources consulted by this digital platform, the tickets were quickly sold out early in the morning.
Reasons for the Quick Sell-Out
The reason, they explain, is that the tickets were snapped up by the first people in line, despite the fact that it had been indicated that only two would be given per ID. “It’s shameful, not even our own families have tickets,” several members of local groups performing that night told this digital platform. There are also comments of outrage on social media for an event that brings together the local carnival world at the theatre every year.
Local Groups and Performances
Some sources have pointed out that the reason for the ticket hoarding is to see the anthology ‘La cuadrilla’, by the Gaditanos Los Carapapas. “All the invitations have been taken by outsiders to see the Cadiz people for free,” another outraged carnival-goer stated. “And our people are left out,” he added. Local groups ‘Mejor me callo’, ‘Este año salimos por los pelos’, ‘La joya’, ‘Los refugiados’ will also perform. The event will start at 21:00 hours this Saturday and will feature a reading of the proclamation in posthumous tribute to Francisco Blanco ‘El butano’. The gold shield will also be awarded to Francisco Javier Cerván and the Venus, Nymphs and Dios Momo will be announced.
