Marbella Town Hall Unveils New Automated Toilets Along Seaside Promenade
The Marbella town hall has initiated the installation of modern, functional, and automated toilets along the seaside promenade. The municipality plans to install a total of 40 units, strategically located to cater to beach-goers, bar patrons, families at nearby playgrounds, and other pedestrians.
Mayor Ángeles Muñoz Announces 1.2 Million Euro Initiative
During her visit to the Puerto Banús marina, Marbella mayor Ángeles Muñoz announced the initiative, which is backed by an investment of 1.2 million euros. The project is part of a tourism plan signed between the town hall and the regional government, with each entity financing half of the cost. The mayor described the design of the facilities as avant-garde, in line with the town’s style.
Smart Features and Security Measures
The new toilets will be equipped with smart features, including automatic opening and closing between 7am and 11pm. Each unit will also have security cameras to monitor usage and prevent vandalism, ensuring the safety of users. The mayor assured that all units will be operational before the summer.
Energy Self-Sufficiency and Accessibility
One of the main features of the new toilets is their energy self-sufficiency. The installations will be equipped with solar panels, making them more sustainable. Each unit will consist of four toilets, accessible to everyone, including people with reduced mobility.
Family-Friendly Facilities
The facilities will also include nappy changers for babies, catering to the needs of parents and their children during outdoor activities. Each module will also have an emergency system and security cameras installed.
Mayor Muñoz Stresses Importance of Facility Care
Despite the vandalism-resistant design of the facilities, Mayor Muñoz emphasized the importance of maintaining these public goods. She did not rule out the possibility of people disregarding the public good.
Gradual Replacement and Future Expansion
The town hall will gradually replace the old public toilets with these new designs, increasing the total number by nine. Depending on the progress of the work and the expansion of Marbella, more toilets could be added in the future.
