Marbella, a city known for its diverse European population, has seen a significant rise in Ukrainian residents over the past three years. The surge is attributed to the Russian invasion that began in February 2022. The Ukrainian population in Marbella has more than doubled, increasing by 2,501 to reach a total of 4,921, up from 2,420 three years ago.
British Remain the Most Represented European Nationality
Despite the influx of Ukrainians, the British continue to hold the top spot as the most represented European nationality in Marbella, excluding the Spanish. The town boasts 5,361 British residents. Other significant European communities include Italy (2,626), Germany (1,878), Sweden (1,832), France (1,416), and the Netherlands (1,114). These communities actively contribute to the town’s vibrant social and cultural life.
Russian Presence in Marbella
Russia, a country straddling Europe and Asia, also has a significant presence in Marbella. The town is home to 3,226 Russian residents who contribute to the local economy through businesses, investments, and various activities. This has led to the emergence of Cyrillic signage, particularly in residential areas.
South American Nationalities in Marbella
From the American continent, Colombia represents the fifth most common nationality in Marbella, with 4,421 residents. Other South American countries with a notable presence include Paraguay (2,333), Venezuela (1,528), and Argentina (1,368). The Caribbean is also represented, with residents from Saint Kitts and Nevis, Granada, and Dominica choosing to settle along Marbella’s coast.
North American Residents in Marbella
