Jury Meeting for the Marbella Activa Short Story Contest
The jury for the Marbella Activa Short Story Contest, led by Alejandro Pedregosa as president, along with Francisco Javier Moreno, Saa Rodríguez, and Javier Lima, has announced the results of the 11th edition of the contest. This year’s theme was “paradise”. A total of 118 entries were submitted in both the general and special categories. The authors hail from all over Spain and various European Union countries, according to the organizing association.
Winners of the General Category
In the general category, the first prize of 1,000 euros, sponsored by the Fuerte Foundation, was awarded to Lola Sanabría García from Madrid for her story “El viaje de mamá” (Mom’s Journey). The second prize went to another author from Madrid, Nuria García González, for her work “Tocar el cielo, literalmente” (Touching the Sky, Literally), who will receive 400 euros sponsored by Talleres La Ermita. The third prize went to Patricia Collazo González from Alcobendas for her story “Paraíso Low Cost” (Low Cost Paradise), which consists of a weekend stay for two at any hotel in the Fuerte Hotels chain, sponsored by the Fuerte Foundation. Ana Eugenia Venegas from Marbella came in fourth with “Las flores del bien” (The Flowers of Good), and Manuel Mellado González from San Pedro Alcántara came in fifth with “El Centenario” (The Centenary).
Winners of the Special Category
In the special category, aimed at young people and students from Marbella aged between 15 and 18, the first prize of 300 euros went to Andrea Camacho Armario. The second prize of 100 euros went to Paola Barredo Cabrera. In addition to the cash prizes, all participants will attend a literary workshop led by poet and writer Alejandro Pedregosa, sponsored by the company Hidralia.
Award Ceremony Details
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 16, at 8:00 p.m. at the Lima Hotel. The event will be attended by the winners, sponsors, and jury members, and will conclude with a catering service.
