Marpoética School Poetry Contest Awards Ceremony Held in Marbella
The Marbella City Theatre was the venue for the awards ceremony of the III School Poetry Prize on Tuesday. The event was organized by the Marpoética festival. Dozens of primary school students from various educational centers in the city attended the event, which was part of the activities for International Book Day.
Students Receive Accolades Amid Applause from Peers
The winners took to the stage to receive their awards amidst applause from their peers. The contest saw participation from 422 poems, a record number to date. The competition has two categories, one for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students and another for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
Winners of the School Poetry Contest
In the first category, the top award was won by Safwam Hemehem Rachid for his poem titled “Felicidad”. The second and third prizes were won by Diana González Romero and Renatta Valentina respectively. The winner in the second category was Bruno Cortés López with his poem “Stop Bullying”. The other two awards were collected by Samuel Grégores Ponce and Malak Cheuiyakh.
Participation from Eleven Schools in Marbella
A total of eleven schools from Marbella participated in the contest: Las Albarizas, Antonio Machado, Gil Muñiz, Miguel de Cervantes, Monseñor Rodrigo Bocanegra, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Platero, Santa Teresa, Valdeolletas, Vargas Llosa, and Xarblanca.
Jury Selection and Commemorative Book
The jury, composed of teachers from all participating schools and chaired by retired teacher Manuel Peláez, selected 66 poems from the 422 entries. These selected poems have been included in a book as a memento of this event.
