Unemployment Rate Drops in Marbella, According to Andalusian Employment Service Office
The Andalusian Employment Service Office in Marbella reports a decrease in registered unemployment in February. This is a common trend, but it did not occur in 2023 when the unemployment rate increased. Now, the downward trend is recovering, which is always a positive sign as we approach the Easter week. This is the best figure for the second month of the year since 2007. Hiring has also increased.
Employment Boost Expected in Marbella
Following the rise in unemployment in January, after the Christmas season, the time of the year when employment usually increases in Marbella is now beginning. This is in anticipation of the summer season and the upcoming Easter week. February ended with 9,102 people registered as job seekers at the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) offices, which is under the jurisdiction of the regional government. This is 186 less than in January, representing a 2% decrease.

Of the total number of unemployed in February, 3,508 are men (71 less than in January) and 5,594 are women (115 less than in January). The year-on-year variation shows that there are currently 616 fewer unemployed people than a year ago. This is the lowest unemployment figure for this month in the municipality since 2007, when it was 6,708. Positive Hiring Data in Marbella
Regarding hiring, the data is also positive in Marbella. During February, 3,489 contracts were made, which is 217 more than in January, and 242 more than a year ago. Of the total, 2,507 were permanent contracts (72%), 314 more than the previous month. The rest of the contracts (982) were temporary.
