National Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament Kicks Off This Thursday
The image of the tournament presentation reveals that a new edition of the National Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament is set to begin this Thursday at the Paco Cantos Sports Center. The tournament brings together some of the country’s best racquets in the city, including local players Javier Sánchez Alba and Juan Manuel Ramos. Matches will commence simultaneously on the three courts of Paco Cantos from 16:00 hours.
Marbella Hosts Another Edition of the National Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament
Marbella is once again hosting a new edition of the National Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament. This 16th edition kicks off today, March 21, at the Paco Cantos Sports Center facilities and will feature a women’s draw for the third consecutive year. Once again, the best national racquets will gather at this National Open City of Marbella Wheelchair Tennis.
Top National Players to Compete in the Tournament
The competition will feature up to four players from the national Top-10. The tournament’s number one seed, and winner of the last edition, will be Francesc Prat, currently Top-5 nationally and one of the favorites to win the final. Mario Roque, currently Top-7 nationally, will be the number two seed; Arturo Montes (Top-9) will be the number three seed and the national Top-10 Jorge Iglesias will be the number 4 seed.
Local Players to Compete in the National Open
As for the local players, Javier Sánchez Alba and Juan Manuel Ramos will once again compete in this National Open. Both players have a long sporting career with numerous titles to their credit. Both Sánchez Alba and Ramos will not have to wait long to start playing, as they will face Javi Ruiz and Jorge Iglesias, respectively, in the first round of play. The rest of the matches will continue throughout the afternoon.
Women’s Category to be Played in Roll Robin Format
In the women’s category, the tournament will be played in a Roll Robin format where all players will face each other in a league format to decide the final position. The four players in the women’s draw are: Sandra Ventura, Cristina Mata, Marcela Quintero, and Laura Sambruno.
