Announcement of the Procession of Christ of Love 2024
A photo of the poster announcing this year’s procession of the Christ of Love has been released. The brotherhoods of Marbella are finalizing preparations for Holy Week 2024. The Christ of Love brotherhood has announced the first bell tolls that will be made on their thrones during the Holy Thursday procession.
Special Tribute to the National Police
One of the bell tolls, marking the 200th anniversary, will be dedicated to the National Police, an honorary brotherhood for decades. The Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of Love, Maria Stma. of Charity and St. John the Evangelist of Marbella, after the Government Board meeting held on March 6, agreed on the first bell tolls of the thrones for the Station of Penance on the 28th. The Christ of Love will be honored by the National Police Corps on the occasion of its 200th anniversary, as part of the multiple tributes they are receiving for this reason.
Long-standing Relationship with the National Police
The National Police Station of Marbella has been an Honorary Sister of the Brotherhood for over 40 years and participates in the Holy Thursday procession. The relationship began through collaboration in the release of a prisoner, when the Police Station facilities were located on Portada Street. On the other side of the street was the Municipal Arrest, from where they informed about the people “who had made a mistake”, and could be subject to the measure of grace.
Changes in Legislation
Legislative changes introduced have prevented the Christ of Love from “releasing a prisoner” for ten years, despite the fact that every year the corresponding request is made to the Ministry of Justice.
First Bell Toll for San Juan Evangelista
On the throne of St. John the Evangelist, the first bell toll will be made by Óscar Cazorla Corral on the occasion of the canonical erection of the Virgin of Sorrow. His first elder brother, Óscar Cazorla, has also been a member of the Christ of Love for 22 years, even belonging to the Government Board, and being Section Chief of St. John the Evangelist. He continues to participate in the procession every year, as a brother in the row in the section of St. John the Evangelist, carrying a lantern, which lights his way.
First Bell Toll for the Virgin of Charity
As for the throne of the Virgin of Charity, the first bell toll will be for María del Carmen Natera Arzúa, who will not be able to accompany the procession this year. She has been a sister of the Brotherhood for 32 years, participating every year as a sister in the row of the Section of Maria Santísima of Charity carrying the flag.
