Marbecon Returns to Marbella with a Bigger and Better Edition
The seventh edition of Marbecon, Marbella’s premier event for manga, video games, comics, and alternative culture, is set to take place on June 1 and 2 at the Adolfo Suárez Congress Palace. This year, the event is doubling its usual offerings with over 80 activities designed to cater to all audiences. The decision to extend the event to two days comes in response to the overwhelming turnout at the previous edition.
Marbecon: A Consolidated Proposal for Marbella
Alejandro Gónzález, the Youth Councilor, unveiled the initiative today alongside Antonio Camacho, the director of the organizing company, Eventos Go. Gónzález expressed his satisfaction that Marbecon, a well-established event, is returning to their locality.
What’s New in Marbecon This Year?
The main highlight of this year’s edition will be an exhibition of vintage video games. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see pieces dating back to the 1970s and collector’s consoles like the first Japanese Nintendo. Camacho detailed that the event will be open from 11:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and from 11:00 to 20:00 on Sunday, with a broad catalogue of activities specially designed for families.
Positive Projections for Marbecon
Camacho also shared that the projections for this edition are very positive, and they believe the attendance could increase from 2,000 people in 2023 to over 5,000. The event was only held for one day in 2023, but this year, it will return to its two-day format as in the years before the pandemic and also in 2022.
Activities to Look Forward to at Marbecon
Among the activities, the Kpop dance contest, which already has over 40 registered participants, the Cosplay runway, the Arcade zone with over 5,000 games, and the ‘Champions Arena’ with more physical activities like softcombat, target shooting, or nerf archery stand out. Additionally, there will be hama bead workshops for the little ones, a Lego figure assembly space, and a themed area with Dragon Ball images paying tribute to its creator, Akira Toriyama.
Marbecon Ticket Prices
Regarding the prices, it was indicated that the entry fee will be 4 euros. However, over 2,000 flyers will be distributed throughout the city, allowing access to the event with a 2-for-1 deal during Sunday’s session.
