Marbella Local Police Tighten Measures Against Littering

Marbella’s local law enforcement has stepped up its efforts to combat littering on public roads across the town. José Eduardo Díaz, the councillor for public safety, revealed that the number of fines issued this year has tripled compared to 2023.

Efforts to Raise Awareness on Antisocial Behaviour

Díaz stated that the primary goal of these intensified controls is to educate both residents and tourists about the negative impact of littering on the town’s image and public health. He emphasized the importance of discouraging individuals from disposing of their waste in unauthorized areas or outside the designated times.

128 Proceedings Opened This Year

The councillor disclosed that 128 proceedings have been initiated so far this year, indicating the town hall’s commitment to enforcing the rules. He stressed the necessity for the public to utilize the correct bins and adhere to the prescribed recycling and waste management guidelines.

Fines Range from 90 to 3,000 Euros

The penalties for littering vary, with minor offenses attracting a fine of 90 euros, while severe cases could cost up to 3,000 euros. This measure is part of the town’s strategy to deter people from littering and promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
