Final Verdict Reached in 2012 Marbella Nightclub Shooting
Two men who fired at nightclub bouncers in Marbella in 2012, after one of them was denied entry, have been sentenced. The incident, which involved five gunshots, resulted in a bouncer being left wheelchair-bound. The conviction was achieved through a plea bargain deal. One of the three men involved will serve two years in prison and pay the victim 285,000 euros in compensation. The second man received an 18-month sentence, suspended on the condition of attending a correctional facility. The main suspect is still at large.
The Night of the Incident
The events unfolded in the early hours of 24 November 2012. The three defendants arrived at the club, located in the Parra Villa Palomeras residential area in Marbella, around 5am. After being denied entry, the main suspect, known for previous altercations and aggressive behavior, warned the security staff of his disrespect for them. The trio then left the venue, only to return later with the intention of retaliating against the bouncers.
The Shooting
According to the prosecution, the main suspect retrieved a firearm from the glove compartment of their car, fitted it with a silencer, and began shooting indiscriminately at the bouncers. One of the shots hit a bouncer in the side, causing a spinal cord injury and damage to his kidneys and spleen, leaving him severely disabled. The suspects then fled the scene.
The Aftermath and Trial
The suspects were later located in Plaza Anabel Conde, Fuengirola. The main suspect was briefly intercepted by local police officers, but was released as they were unaware of the incident. The weapon used in the shooting was never found, but a silencer was discovered in the car. The trial for the 2012 shooting took place this month, with two of the three accused acknowledging their guilt after reaching a plea agreement with the prosecution.
The Sentences
As a result of the plea agreement, one of the men will serve two years in prison and pay the victim 285,000 euros in compensation. The second man received an 18-month sentence, suspended on the condition of attending a correctional facility. The main suspect, still at large, faces nine years in prison for attempted murder and another two years for illegal possession of weapons.
