Malaga’s Nordic Walking Team Shines at Andalusian School Age Championship
The complete team of the Malaga selection, entirely made up of athletes from the Marbella Climbing Club (CEM), has shone at the Andalusian School Age Championship, securing the Andalusian runner-up title. The Andalusian athletes managed to secure the first place in the cadet category and the third position in the children’s category, achieving a total of four podiums.
Guillena Hosts Andalusian School Age Nordic Walking Championship
The town of Guillena in Seville hosted the Andalusian School Age Nordic Walking Championship (CADEBA) over the past weekend. The competition included individual, relay, and provincial selection categories. The Malaga Nordic Walking selection, entirely made up of CEM athletes, managed to finish in second position, only behind Huelva and ahead of the Cadiz selection.
Weekend Competition Format
The competition unfolded with a relay race on Saturday and a line race on Sunday. Each provincial selection had three participants per category and gender. The competition was held over the weekend, where the young participants shared a hotel and experiences.
Individual and Relay Achievements
On an individual level, CEM achieved victory thanks to Lucas Gámez (cadet) and Sofía Lobato (child), as well as an Andalusian runner-up title with Iris Morales (cadet). In relays, siblings Sofía and Manuel Lobato secured the third place in the mixed children’s category.
Key Contributions to Andalusian Runner-Up Title
To secure the second place at the Andalusian level, the results achieved by the different selections were crucial, with the cadet team being the best in Andalusia and the children’s team securing the third place. In addition to the athletes mentioned above, CEM also contributed to the Malaga selection with Daniela Quebrajo, Claudia Muñoz in the female cadet category; Miguel Ángel Escobar and Adrián Mancilla in the male cadet category; Lola Urbano and Alba Mera, in the female children’s category; and Sergio Castro and German Marín in the male children’s category.
