Former Wife of Qatari Royal Found Dead in Marbella

In a shocking turn of events, Kasia Gallanio, the ex-wife of a high-ranking Qatari royal, was discovered dead at her residence in Marbella. The 45-year-old’s death, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, is suspected to be a result of a drug overdose. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Tuesday to confirm the cause of death.

Initial Investigations Point to Drug Overdose

French newspaper Le Parisien, which first reported the incident, suggests that initial investigations point towards a drug overdose as the cause of death. However, the final confirmation will only be available after the post-mortem examination.

Kasia Gallanio’s Tumultuous Marriage

Kasia, a Polish-American, was the third wife of Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, 73, the uncle of the current amir of Qatar. The couple tied the knot shortly after meeting in 2004 and have three daughters together. However, their marriage ended in divorce, followed by a bitter custody battle. The eldest daughter has even accused her father of inappropriate touching.

Life Post-Divorce

Post-divorce, Kasia continued to live in one of the couple’s homes in Marbella, while her ex-husband resided in Paris. He has been living in exile since 1992, following accusations of plotting a coup against the then Qatari ruler. Le Parisien reports that Kasia had been battling depression and alcohol addiction.

Friends Mourn Kasia’s Untimely Death

Louis Spagnuolo, a close friend of Kasia in Marbella, expressed his devastation at the news of her death. He described her as a loving person who was adored by everyone who knew her. He emphasized that Kasia was a devoted mother who would never abandon her daughters and denied allegations of her being an alcoholic or using drugs.
