UK’s Most Wanted Fugitive Possibly Hiding in Costa del Sol
Authorities have issued a public appeal for information regarding one of the UK’s most wanted fugitives, Alex Male, who is believed to be hiding in the Costa del Sol. A photograph of the heavily tattooed 29-year-old was released on Thursday, with the hope that the public may recognize him and assist in his capture.
Male’s Alleged Criminal Activities
Male, originally from Weston-super-Mare, is suspected of using the encrypted communications platform EncroChat to distribute class A drugs across the south west of England. In addition to drug trafficking, he is also accused of money laundering and conspiring to acquire a firearm. It is believed that he is currently on the run in the Marbella area of Spain.
Recent Success in Capturing UK’s Most Wanted
This appeal comes a week after British and Spanish police collaborated to launch a campaign to apprehend the 12 Most Wanted Brits believed to be hiding in Spain. The campaign has already seen success, with one of the men being apprehended while walking his dog near Marbella just a day later.
Male’s Inclusion in NCA’s Most Wanted Campaign
Male is now featured in the NCA’s Most Wanted campaign, which is run in conjunction with independent charity Crimestoppers. The campaign targets fugitives who have fled overseas to escape justice. Male is around 6ft tall and has a number of distinctive tattoos, including a skull on his adams apple and a full sleeve on his left arm with a family tree.
Authorities Urge Public to Provide Information
Detective Inspector Adrian Hawkins from the SW ROCU stated that Male is suspected of exploiting people throughout the South West and fleeing to Spain to live off the money he’s made. He urged anyone with any information to come forward. Steve Reynolds, the NCA’s regional manager in Spain, added that the arrest last week of a fugitive within 24 hours of appearing on the Most Wanted list should serve as a warning to Male.
How to Report Information
Anyone with information on Alex Male or any of the wanted fugitives can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (from the UK), and callers from Spain should call the freephone Spanish number 900 926 111. Information can also be reported online via crimestoppers-uk.org/fugitives.
